He holds a First Class Medal of Efficiency from the King of Bahrain Islamic Services inside and outside Bahrain in 2007. He has been awarded for creativity in Islamic control of the financial banks and for contributing to Islamic Banking in Malaysia in 2007.

Adbulaty has spent his informative years surrounded by Islamic Scholars and Sheikhs in the cradle of learning in the historic Al-Azhar University in Cairo, where he studied the Science of Hadith at the Faculty of Islamic Dawah. He developed his passion for collecting Islamic and Arabic manuscripts, books and rare hand written Qurans and has a truly vast knowledge of Shariah, grammar, literature, fiqha and hadith.

Dr. Sayd Farook is responsible for leading the Islamic finance value propositions in the Thomson Reuters group. Capitalising on his triple concentrations on law, business and Islamic finance, he oversees Thomson Reuters services to governments and businesses in relation to their strategies related to Islamic finance. Dr. Farook is currently working on a number of ground breaking projects that will revolutionise the development and democratization of the Islamic markets.

Prior to his appointment at Thomson Reuters, he was responsible for structuring and legal advisory at Dar Al Istithmar, a boutique Islamic finance advisory firm based in Oxford. Dr. Farook has served in a consulting capacity for the AAOIFI while he was employed by the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance, where he led the research and development activities for the Center for Islamic Finance.

He is an invited speaker to a number of prominent professional and academic forums and is a peer reviewed author / reviewer of several articles in which he promotes the necessary infrastructure for the sustainable development of the Islamic finance industry. Dr. Farook earned his Doctorate / PhD (Financial Economics focusing on Islamic Banking), Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Business (First Class Honours) from UTS Sydney and is on the editorial advisory board for two prominent peer reviewed journals.

He has experience in building up three Islamic Finance businesses from almost nothing to substantial and scalable proposition leaders in their respective fields. Dr. Farook remains actively engaged in the Islamic Finance industry, through structuring Shariah compliant transactions and products, conference contributions, post doctoral research/supervision/publishing and drafting of standards/preparing studies for infrastructure institutions.

In his latest assignment, he served as the Chief Operating Officer of Reliance Asset Management in Malaysia and Islamic Asset Management Subsidiary for the largest Asset Management Company in India. He is credited to lead Reliance Group’s maiden foray into Islamic Asset Management. He also led to set up a vast distribution network for the asset management group within the EMEA region resulting in more than US$ 1 Billion (INR equivalent) investment into Reliance Asset Management domestic Indian funds.

He joined Al Jawhara Group of Hotels in 2005 and contributed his efforts in developing Jawhara Brand name. Under his leadership, Jawhara won many accolades/Awards which include Dubai Quality Appreciation Award – Year 2008-2009, Halal Journal Award – 2009, Arab Achievement Award – 2010 and also established “Lootah Hotel Management”.

He played as change catalyst in the change management of developing Jawhara Sharia’h complaint hospitality, by developing and facilitating the achievement of the mission and the vision of the company. He also developed the organizational values and systems that were required for sustainable success.

He was a trustee and director of WRVS, a charity headed by HM Queen Elizabeth. He has been advising both corporate and multinational companies on strategy, brand development and innovation in the Islamic economy sector for over 10 years. He is now an advisory board member to a number of companies around the globe including United Investment Bank in the DIFC.
